My littlest daughter had her FIRST birthday in September! I had started a wishlist for her in August in case family members needed some ideas. I think this was the first time I was this prepared for a birthday! I’ve been more and more inspired to pair down on plastic toys and invest in wooden, montessori style toys. I love their minimalist style and that they spark more creative play.
I’ve rounded up a few of our favorite toys that Maxine received for her birthday in case you need or want some ideas for your little ones or for gift giving in general.

Mont Pleasant Sensory Bin Toys
This wooden sensory bin set is too cute and the perfect size for little hands. My daughter enjoys playing with this set on its own but it’s also super fun for a variety of sensory bin setups. You can purchase this set here.

Montessori Busy Book
This plush busy book is just the cutest! The color pallet is so soft & inviting. There are so many little things to pull and snap and tie. Every time I pull this book out, my daughter engages with it. The only downside to be aware of is that there are a few small pieces that are choking hazards but I removed them before my daughter played with it for the first time. Overall, I love this book! Carrot Garden Matching Game
My daughter loves figuring out how things fit together and this is the perfect toy for her. The little felt carrot tops are easy to grasp and she enjoys dumping them and placing them back in their spots. You can purchase this set here.

Red Wooden Telephone
I just love this vintage, red telephone! It’s well-made and the rotary actually rotates. There are also little bells in the phone that jingle when you pick it up. Maxine enjoys pretending to answer it. You can purchase it here.
Tiger Print Onesie
I have been loving this adorable clothing company, Cole & Cleo Clothing. I was excited to finally place an order for my daughter for her birthday. I love that they use organic cotton – it is so soft! And the fit is spot on. Do I even need to mention how cute this tiger print is?? You can purchase this onesie here.
All Kids Are Good Kids Book
This book is so sweet and a great reminder for kids that they are good no matter how they are feeling inside. This book teaches confidence and emotional intelligence. I’ve also been paying extra attention to books that include diverse characters and this book does a great job of that! As a graphic designer, I’m drawn to the color pallet and illustration style too. You can purchase this book here.
I hope this list helps to give you some ideas for baby gifts! Which item catches your eye?
